I started my career straight out of school in R&D at Framatome, then Areva NP. It was during an internal training course that I met the industrial property (IP) manager who introduced me to the world of IP. I then decided to join an industrial property firm and learn the trade of industrial property attorney and European patent attorney. Eighteen years later, I'm still working in a law firm, and the job is still as exciting as ever. I immediately liked the legal aspect of the job. Our engineering training gives us the scientific culture needed to understand technical innovations, and the rigor required to learn the law. As a CPI, we are at the crossroads of several issues for companies: technology for their innovations, law and strategy to defend their interests, not forgetting the economic context in which they operate. We are both engineers and lawyers.
