The RJMI are among the student projects subsidized this year by ENSTA Alumni as part of theFaites-nous rêver call for projects.

As a reminder, the Rendez Vous des Jeunes Mathématiciennes is an event that brings together high school girls over several days to work on open problems in mathematics, and take part in workshops and conferences on gender equality in science.

A look back at the last edition of the RJMI, by Clément BEZARD (class 2024)

"We were lucky enough to be able to organize another edition of the RJMI, on the weekend of March 26 and 27 at ENSTA Paris. This year's event brought together around twenty young female high school students around the theme of mathematics and computer science: fields that are still very much closed to women today. Over the two days, the atmosphere was one of intellectual stimulation, sharing and collaboration. The event was structured around captivating lectures by Chantal Keller, mathematics researcher and lecturer, and Pascale Le Gall, professor at Centrale Supélec.

Participants worked on TFJM² research problems in small groups and took part in a series of interactive puzzles, as part of a fun treasure hunt, on logic, computer and mathematical problems. These stimulating challenges challenged their analytical and creative minds, encouraging them to explore new solutions.

Diversity of profiles was also encouraged, with travel, accommodation and catering costs fully covered. This initiative attracted passionate young girls from different regions and social backgrounds, helping to enrich the diversity of perspectives and experiences within RJMI.

In addition to the academic aspects, the event also focused on the human aspect and gender equality in science. A discussion workshop was organized to raise participants' awareness of gender stereotypes in science. This moment of exchange with women from these fields of science enabled the young high-school girls to share their experiences and reflect on the issue of stereotypes in science. Finally, meals cooked by the organizers were an opportunity for everyone to get together for free exchange and enjoyment.

We'd like to thank ENSTA Paris for its warm welcome over the past 5 years, ENSTA Alumni for its support, and Animath and Femmes et Mathématiques for coordinating this project with us again this year. Finally, we'd like to extend our warmest thanks to all the speakers and organizers who make these days possible."
